Woody was referred to us by a mutual friend. We have been trying to clear out some trees in our backyard so we can expand it but we didn't feel comfortable cutting the few trees that were closer to our house. He responded very quickly when we called; he actually came over the same day to give us an estimate. He emailed us the next day with the quote and we accepted it. He offered to do the job within the same week but we opted to have him come the following week. He came and did the job during the day and did not leave a huge mess in our yard. We are planning on cutting the trees up ourselves to keep for firewood. Woody is very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. We will definitely use him again in the future if we decide to remove anymore trees.

The owner and his crew are fantastic! I hired them for my mother-in-law who needed a rotten tree chopped down and the stump removed. We ended up deciding to remove another tree/stump to make room for a new fence. Woody gave an honest assessment of our wishes and fair estimate for the services. Then he and his team arrived on time and quickly got all the work done. They cleaned up all the wood/twigs/chips, they put grass seed down where they removed the stumps and now you would never know there were trees there. We will be hiring them again soon to tackle some overgrown arbor vitae. It was a pleasure doing business with this company!

Great. Woody had a better idea of how to restore the yard than I did. He knew how to make the whole thing more manageable (mowable, etc). He really likes to grind stumps and is good at it. He found a way to get his equipment in place to keep the costs down. He worked quickly and cleaned everything up. He will care about how your yard looks long term. Will hire again as needed.

StumpBuster's owner, Woody, has invented a fantastic "plow-rake" for removing stone and brush from soil and leaving nice, level ground, ready for cultivating grass. I only wish I had taken BEFORE pictures, as it's hard to appreciate the AFTER pictures without them. This has been a very difficult time for growing grass, very hot and very dry. Although I did a lot of watering with sprinklers, the seed in areas most exposed to the sun didn't come up as well as areas with some shade. But once Woody was notified of the problem, he promised to work on a remedy once the summer is over.

They were at my house on schedule. It took the full day to complete the job and they did a fantastic job. Woody and his staff were extremely friendly and courteous. My yard was completely cleaned up. I had several estimates, and Woody's was the best price for the work he was willing to do. He was able to perform the task the following week and after removing all the stumps, he was going to plant grass where the stumps had been. We asked how much it would cost to reseed some areas where there had been shade from the trees and he again gave us the best estimate out of several others. He used his Plowrake to dig up quite a bit of grass and level out the area he would plant. Then he came and planted the grass and also came back to make sure the grass was growing properly and emailed to let us know that he might reseed in the spring if needed. I was so impressed with how much pride he takes in his work and how concerned he was with our satisfaction. I would recommend him to anyone!

Woody (yes that's his real name) was great to work with. He is a very thoughful, careful, methodical worker. From the first evaluation, where I walked around the property, I could tell this was not going to be a "hack job". He returned after our initial meeting to write up his proposal. The only thing that happened between these two meetings was that one tree got discussed, but then not put into the initial proposal . But this wound up not being a problem, as he just included this work for me in the end. After a couple day delay due to weather conditions, he arrived with a team of four other workers and they did all the work in a short amount of time. His workers were all pleasant and friendly and did an excellent job taking care of our trees. We would definitely use Woody again for our future tree work!

I first got Woody's name from a nurse I work with at the hospital. He had done a big job at her home in North Haven and she was very pleased with the work he did. I had four or five contractors come and look at the yard. Woody, the owner of Stump Busters, was not only professional in his approach to the work he was going to do but he was thoughtful and caring about the aesthetics of the landscape of our home and the surrounding properties. While other companies may do the job, Woody and Stump Busters followed through on his and our vision of what we wanted the yard to look like. He wants to work with you and returned on many occasions to check on the progress of the yard. He came by, popped out of his truck with fertilizer and gave me extra grass seed (who does this?) At the beginning he would come by and talk about all the possibilities making sure he also understood our vision. I could go on and on about his ideas and the feel he has for his work. He truly cares about his customers. It was obvious he cares for the environment. It was infectious hearing him talk about his work and he gets you excited about all the possibilities. I've already recommended him to friends and neighbors. I feel like I gained a friend in Woody. P.S. HE ANSWERS HIS PHONE OR CALLS BACK!!

Woody called back the next day (a Sunday) and left a voicemail telling us that unfortunately he did not do work in Branford because of some issue regarding his truck. However, based on the description I had left on the phone, he told me that this should not be such a big job, and could be done in a couple of hours by a skilled operator. And he gave me his e-mail and said that if i wanted to let him know what estimates I got for the job by others, he would respond and would be glad to let me know what he thought. It was so thoughtful of him to respond so quickly and helpfully, especially since there was no work in it for him. I can see why he has such high rating on Angie's List. When I get my other estimates, I do plan to e-mail him for his opinion.

Woody was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. When he came over to provide an estimate for the job, he conducted a careful analysis of the property, and helped me to prioritize the trees that should be removed versus those that could be trimmed. On the day of the job, he and his crew arrived around 8:30 and left around 4:30. I could see that everyone was in constant motion. Trees and branches were coming down and were being chipped and removed from the property nearly instantaneously. I was impressed by the finished product as well as the condition of my yard. I would use Woody again, and would definitely recommend him to family and friends.

Woody is an amazing arborist. Woody and Louis took the time to carefully remove the heavy branches overhanging our roof. Then Woody used his skills to balance out the tree by trimming in different places. The maple looks much healthier. Afterwards, they used a chipper to clear out all the branches. Then they used a blower to clear off the roof, gutter, lawn, patio and the road near our property. Woody responded positively to all questions and requests. I am most impressed with his professionalism!

Woody showed up one Saturday morning and spent a good deal of time with us going over the work we needed done. The scope of the job enlarged as we looked over the yard. We set a date for removal. Woody was very busy with another large job at the time and was unable to show up, but he kept me informed of changes to the schedule. He came on the 13th with his crew and they spent most of the day grinding, sawing, chipping and raking. Everyone worked hard, the yard was left very clean.

We needed a quick stump removal before Halloween. He provided the quote and service the same day! After completely removing the stump and all debris, he flattened out area and ensured that there were no holes or hollow spots so if trick-or-treaters walked on / through the area it would be safe.

Throughout our interactions with Woody, I was impressed with the way he cared not only about the result of the job, but about how pleased we were with the progress and outcome. During Woody?s initial visit, we discussed the trees we wanted to have taken down and he took the time to study our yard and come up with a vision for what our property could look like. He listened to our wants and incorporated them into the needs of our property. He pointed out trees that were diseased and hollow which we were not aware of and was able to incorporate them into our budget. Woody and his crew completely transformed the look and feel of our property. His crew worked well together and were constantly moving. We appreciated how quickly and efficiently they worked. Woody was present and in constant contact throughout the process. We felt he really added value to our property. Although I usually tell friends who I have used to complete a service, I usually do not make recommendations. In this instance, I have already recommended him to friends and neighbors. We plan on having more trees removed next season and I will definitely be calling Stumpbuster in to do the job.
